Track pad not clicking.

My trackpad has been acting weird lately. It registers click, but it doesn’t physically click. I even opened up my MacBook and cleaned all the debris below the trackpad, but after reassemble, it is still the same. Is there a tension screw on this MacPro model too? and if there is which one is it? and what possible solutions are there to make it physically click again..?

Chosen Solution

There is no physical click, the clicking feel is simulated by the Taptic Engine module underneath.

Surprising that this has tricked so many people up till now.

It is likely that the Taptic Engine motor is stuck, or the driver fried. In any case you need to replace the trackpad unit.

so if I buy a new trackpad and replace it, it would be just fine. is that correct?

also just figured out that my force touch haptic feedback is not working even after the smc reset. is this because of the Taptic Engine too?
