This happened to my friend's iPhone when he took off his front display. The problem was that the speaker connection was not fully inserted into the logic board when he put it back together. I'd say you should try opening the phone back up and reinserting the speaker wire, making sure that it is completely attached to the logic board.

Hope this helps!

Ive done that 100 times and im still only hearing vaguely thats after replacing the proximity sensor and speaker

How hard is it to replace the proximity sensor connector? Do you think thats what the problem is?

by

It is a pretty tough fix, but I see that you said you could hear something after installing the new proximity sensor which leads me to believe you fixed the problem. I'd think that being able to hear now would mean that your proximity sensor is now working. I still think there's something wrong with the speaker connection. That little bugger has to be perfect to work right. Give it one more look to make sure it's in right and check for dust or anything.

Or it is possible you messed up the connector. The connector is pretty hard to replace and should be a last resort, but you can do it if you're sure it's not the speaker wire.

I hope this all helps!
