Haptic Feedback not working after installing a brand new Taptic Engine

So a customer gave me an iPhone 7 without Haptic Feedback.

I bought and installed a new Taptic Engine but it still doesnt work. After that i swapped the Lightning Connector for a new one, because thats where the Taptic Engine plugs into. Still no Haptic Feedback.

The phone is NOT water damaged and never went into repair before. What could be the problem?

I know it’s hard for people with no access to known good parts and housings and I know you have replaced the taptic and the dock. But this does not sound like a board problem but a parts problem. If you put the board into a known good housing you will find the taptics will work.

What do you mean by „known Good housing“? Its an original Apple Housing and like I said, its the First Time ever for this device to be into repair ever.

Just because it is original apple housing doesn’t mean it is not causing the problem now. If someone brought in a iphone 7 with no touch we wouldn’t presume it is a board issue until we ruled out parts. I am just saying if you took the phone to a repair shop with your problem the first thing they would do is put it in a known good housing to rule out a parts issue.

Hey Chris, have you seen lots of Taptic Engine failures? I haven't seen any (mind you I'm not a high volume shop). It seems to me that the odds of having another failed Taptic Engine seem pretty low. I would suspect something may be wrong with the ARC driver on the logic board or it could be a Lightning port issue (hence you're excellent suggestion for a known-good housing.

I have only seen 2 on the iPhone 7 one was caused by an aftermarket dock and the other was the taptic itself. The iPhone 8 and X are more common as people try and swap housings. If you confirm it’s not a parts problem then as you suggested the ark driver would be next. I think there are a couple of filters along the dock connector which could be causing an open line if they have been dislodged. Testing the lines in diode mode should lead you to the problem.
