If Volume - and + work, and Lock Switch work probably a new flex cable can fix, and i say probably because can be internal liquid damage.
You don’t have to take apart all the internal parts for testing if is only a new flex cable, in this picture you can see the location and connection of the power button flex, and you can test it before installing.

Though, I'm a bit confused: How can I test a new flex cable without "ripping out the guts" of the defective phone?
*Got this phone from a phone tech who installed a front assembly on the device.
Afterwards, the power button stopped working.
Any additional insight and or clarity is welcomed.

Connect the new flex Cable here, you have to remove the screen, but not all components.
