All the USB-C ports on my Macbook Pro 15” 2016, have start to become loose. Apple changed design of I/O ports on 2018 model to prevent this issue.
Does anybody know if 2018 USB-C I/O ports are compatible between 2016 and 2018 models.

Sorry the designs are different enough they are not interchangeable.

Is this just based on the pictures? or have you tried? im thinking about triyng to buy the newer one and giving a go, as long as the connectors are the same ..
@Jamie Fleuret - How are you going to hold the connection down onto the logic board? Apple altered the bracket design from an intergraded one to a discreet one. There is also a difference at the USB-C connector side. The case has a depression to accept the foam seal and the plate behind it which adds suability.
I have just now (03/18/21) received the two USB-C unites (2016 & 2018) and it looks like the board for the A1706 & A1707 has been updated. As you can see on the image the outside edges are also made of solid metal now and not just circuit board.

The two units look identical besides the obvious difference on the connector and the 2018 unit has a little gasket.
Because you have take the logic board out in order to replace the usb-c I will order the battery and change that as well while I am at it.
