Game card slot no longer works since someone put a switch game in the slot … thinking I need to replace the card slot … how easy is desoldering the old one ?? Are the slots on eBay any good ?? Anyone ever tried this repair ??

Knowing where the issue is might solve this problem before you need to change the slot.
It may be as easy as bending pins back in place or retouching a soldering joint, to troubleshooting dead components and IC’s on the board. Short to GND or dead components can be test for. Checking the card connectors pins are connected to the board is also important, you just need a multimeter, and a youtube video teaching you to use one… This is one of the best…

Should boost your confidence a little… Youtube has many tutorials on it if you are keen to learn.
But if you have never done so and are willing to pay, looking to a tradesman to help you would be a good idea. Google around or even try asking mobile repair stores to strip and troubleshoot your problem, you may have to pay for it, but that depends on what you can talk yourself into… maybe you find a Nintendo fan, whole will through you a solid!
Getting some eyes and probes on there would be first step. Upload a pic or 2 for us to see also may help.
Never repaired one but I have seen tear-downs on the internet. I also don’t know about the ebay listing, hoping you won’t have to go that route.
