My Sony Bravia KDL-37L4000 started displaying the picture, in what looks like a negative image. what should be light colors are dark and the dark are light colors. It had been working well and just happened when i turned on the TV. I am wondering if the tv is worth the cost, to try and have it repaired.

morkleb77 sound slike you are looking at solarization. You do want to go ahead and post some images of what your screen shows with your question. That way we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question
The very first thing you want to do is to check he TV menu. If that is 100% color correct etc. You need to consider a new main board. If the menu is not correct then start with a new T-con board.
Main boards can be had for ~30USD and T-con boards for about the same. Cheaper than a new TV and keeps yours from becoming e-waste
