iPod 5th generation and iPod classic LCD interchangeable?

I got a broken iPod 5th generation from a Friend. The Display is broken. Another friend has a broken iPod Classic with a broken Hard Drive. I have read that the iPod Classic Display should be thinner (But I am not completely sure as no source was mentioned), so I wonder if the Display from the iPod 5g can be replaced with that one from the classic?

JeriC, if i remember right, besides being thinner, the cable and connector are also somewhat offset, so that may cause you some grief. Since you have immediate access to the display, just give it a try and see :-) On the other hand, a display for the 5th gen is not that expensive and an easy fix. Good Luck

Thank you! And yeah, I know that they are not that expensive, but I don't know if there are other parts broken on that iPod (the Display is obvious ;) ) and I thought that I won't buy a Display just to realize that the logic board is also broken.
