Option key seems to be stucked should I change trackpad only?

Hello, guys. I’m so nervous…

  1. 2 years ago, 2017, I spilled ice coffee on the keyboard of my macbook pro retina 2015 early 13’. and then I cleaned and replaced keyboard and battery. it was solved.
  2. 2018, summer, suddenly my keyboard didn’t work well. “Option key” seemed to be stucked, so I couldn’t input “English or Korean”. After all, I changed “keyboard and trackpad cable” only and then I could use keyboard well.
  3. However, recently, “option key” seemed to be stucked again!! even if I changed keyboard again!!!. I tried to use external keyboard, but it didn’t work well.

I guess my trackpad or mother board has a problem. While I used laptop, sometimes my trackpad didn’t work zoom in or out.

did you guys have same experience or have a solution? plz?

Your description makes me think some liquid might have reached the trackpad where it started some oxidation that built up over time. I’d definitely try a trackpad replacement as a first step before worrying about the logic board.

So, you mean the trackpad has something to do with the keyboard issue, especially "option key pressed"?

by

@samsational Absolutely, signals from they keyboard head to the trackpad where you have ICs elaborating them and forwarding them over on to the logic board.

Thank you so much, @arbaman

If the laptop does not work well after replacing the trackpad, what should I do?

Should I consider replacing a logic board or motherboard?

by

@samsational Considering market prices next step I'd consider would be a component level repair rather than a replacement, but let's keep fingers crossed for now.

by

@arbaman yes, you're right. But I have a one more question. My trackpad did work well except for zoom in or out. Is it related this keyboard issue?
