Battery not Charging, no liquid damage

On June 30th I woke to find my battery with an [x] in the indicator. A quick restart and NVRAM (?) reset found brought back the battery indicator, but now it won't charge. There has been no water/liquid damage that I know of, since that seems to be the cause of this error in the other threads. I am at a loss as to what to do.

MacBook Pro 15" 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo

Model #: A1286

Mac Age: 21 months

Coconut Battery Status: -1 mAh

It works fine using the charger and running off the outlet power. But it refuses to charge. I think that I may need to replace the MagSafe DC-In board, but I wanted to ask just to be sure.

The X when I had it was Black. It is gone now, and I have a (Not Charging) indicator.

Is the X red or black?

The X was black when I had it. Now it's gone and there is a (Not Charging) in it's place.

Resolution

Shut down, then remove and reinstall the battery. Test for the issue(s) again.

Connect the MagSafe power adapter (if you haven't already) and see if the behavior continues.

If the issue(s) persist, download and install the Mac OS X v10.4.9 Update.

If the issue(s) persist, download and install Battery Update 1.3.
