Remove camera lens ring - iPhone 6

So I only found the guide for removing the metal rear camera lens ring on the 6S, is it the exact same procedure on the iPhone 6?

Since i remember that on some of the older iPhones the ring is like welded in four different spots and can be very tricky to get off, don’t know if thats how it is on the iPhone 6 though?

So if anybody knows how it is on the iPhone 6 I would appreciate an answer.

The iPhone 6 lens is glued in. Put some heat on it and work your way around it with a blade.

Thanks, so should I work it from the inside of the phone or from the outside? If from the outside then doesn't it leave marks in the outer casing around the lens ring?

@gadgetuser warm up the housing area and push the glass out from the inside. Clean the shards if present, apply the new glass and warm up a bit again and you should be fine.

it`s the same as 6s, if you want the whole lens off including the metal ring then remove the rear camera and black sponge, pull the metal bracket out from the inside with pliers and the outer lens and ring will come out as one.

Yes exactly, i want to replace the whole metallic ring and the glass at the same time.

But i know that some iPhone models have spot welded the lens ring in 4 different locations on the inside, so its very hard to remove the ring without damaging the casing.

Don't know if the iPhone 6 is one of those iPhone models which has the ring welded though?

EDIT: Oh boy, it seems that the iPhone 6 is actually one of those models which has its camera lens ring spot welded, this can be a very hard project.

Also it has a square metal bracket on the inside of the camera housing.

This bracket will most likely get so damaged that it can't be used again, and these brackets are not included when you buy new lens rings as far as i´m aware? I haven't seen them for sale either.

I wonder if the bracket is a crucial part, or if the camera and lens ring can be held in place without the bracket? At least the camera seems to be held down by the metal plate that goes on top of the camera, but I suspect that the lens ring is attached to the bracket?
