Try cleaning the touch screen connector with isopropyl alcohol + could be dust inside the connector on one side. To confirm is the one side touch not working also before the screen replacement or after?

Sometimes it can be caused by liquid damage near the touch screen connector as well.

The left side of screen would not respond to touch so I replaced the digitizer. The problem still exists with the new digitizer. I double checked and the connector is pushed all the way in to the white lines on connector. The ribbon connector from the digitizer pushes into the connector on the frame....how do you clean inside that? It is possible it got wet sometime in its life. History - had this ipad sitting around not using it. Grandkids fight over our ipad pro. Pulled this old ipad2 out and tried to charge it - it would only boot loop. Replaced battery which fixed that. I then realized (and remembered) that the left 2" of the screen would not respond to touch. Obvious solution would be to try hard reset - didn't fix. Next step - new digitizer....didn't fix problem. If liquid damage near connector is there a solution and how can you tell?

I use a soft bristle brush with 99% isopropyl alcohol inside the connector gently that should get the dust out.

Sounds good! I'll give it a try when I get home from work tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Alcohol and soft brush on the connector did not help. Could be a controller problem?

Omg LCD does not affect touch on the iPad 2 so save ur money and do not replace the LCD if it is working fine… what is the history of the iPad was the original digi cracked or what happened to it???

Shine a torch and use a magnifying glass or maybe a phone on zoom on the connector that the digi plugs into to examine it properly

I'm aware the LCD does not affect the touch. See the above response to Ben for the history. The original digi was not cracked....just no response from the left 2" of the screen so I replaced the digi....no change. Was hoping that replacing the digi would be a quick cheap fix for this outdated ipad.

Need to really take a good look at both of the connectors one of the pins might be damaged that's the most common cause if it's not the digi and it's also a good point for water entry. There are 2 connectors for the digi check the pins on each top side and bottom side of that look for anything that looks unusual see if u can post a picture that might help

Ya you probably needed to replace the whole thing if it looks normal that’s probably the issue but if you have a bunch of green/red/blue lines running down it that would be the digitizer. Just replace the whole screen
