Problems with battery calibration

I just replaced the battery on my grandparents iphone 5, but when going to calibrate the battery i found the percentage to at times not move, go down in big chunks and even go up at times. I am struggling to get it to die, and ive tried everything. Any tips?

Was there any power running through the device when you disconnected the original battery?

It’s always worth double checking the connector to make sure it is sitting down correctly, and ofc use an Mfi cable.

If that all checks out then you could have received a faulty battery, if this is the case there should be a warranty and you should be able to get it replaced.

Hey thanks for the response, that all did actually check out, i even opened it back up to ensure everything was sitting correctly. Over the course of the night and day it has been fluctuating between the 5-10% battery, seeming to go on forever no matter what I do to drain the battery. I think i am going to attempt to keep it draining, and then eventually when it dies recharge it and go from there. If it still is acting weird then ill probably send it back. If u think of any other tips while i still have it let me know!
