Question about replacing the battery of my Droid Turbo 2

So, just over 2 weeks ago, I noticed the back of my Droid Turbo 2 was bulging. It was happening before this, but didn't notice as the case on my phone wasn't showing any signs of damage until it started getting tighter around my phone, with one of the latches ultimately breaking. I've since found out from Verizon that this is due to a defect in the design of the Battery, but they aren't able to do any kind of compensation and I should just get a new phone. I saw the kit on this website to replace the battery, but am wondering if my phone is past the replacement of the battery stage and I should just get a new phone, or the kit to replace the battery itself. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

You can do it. The Droid Turbo 2 is an easy phone to work on. Make sure that you get the tools that you need to open it and it should be straight forward.
