strange ticking sound recorded on CDDA

When I attempt to burn an Audio CD either from iTunes or Garageband directly to my Apple Superdrive, I more often than not get a strange ticking sound recorded on the CD. The music is all original acoustic recordings and plays back fine on my computer from either program, so it’s not in the original. Any ideas of what’s causing this?

Options

Have you attempted to use a different CD? Not all discs are made the same. Failing that you have some very strange write errors on your super drive.
