kinked heat sink, is there a thermal conductor that I can put on it?

I have an Inspiron 1545, It has a kinked heat sink, but it still seems operational, and when i’m using Youtube , or at random times, the fan starts running a lot, is there a thermal conductor that I can use to put on my heat sink till I get enough money to replace it?

Hi @fegelein3290 ,

Here’s one that should be within your budget.

You won’t get it much cheaper than this.

The system requires a heat sink to pull the heat away. There isn’t any options here if yours is damaged.

Think it like this turning on the sink faucet the water needs to drain out in the basin. The heatsink heat pipe is like a tube which connects the two so when it fails the heat (water) can’t exit.

I understand what you are saying, but the heatsink is still transferring heat and when you look closely its not entirely kinked, if it was fully kinked i wouldnt be able to open this tab and type this message

The kink is effecting its performance, thats why the system is still able to work. Once the systems thermal sensors are driven too hot the system with either shutdown or go into safe mode. You need to get the heat sink replaced.
