Can I replace my 600 watt psu with a 1000 watt one?

Hello I have a powermac g5 dual 2.5 gb. The 600 watt psu died and I was wondering if I could upgrade it to the 1000 watt used in the pm quad core? Are they compatible? Thanks for any help in this matter

No, 1000W power supplies use different connectors than the 600W and are therefore incompatible. However, you can replace the 600W power supply in your machine with a (Slightly Cheaper) 450W power supply, because they are compatible.

The only problem would be a restriction on the number of devices the computer could support. ( Two hard drives instead of four--limited number of cards installed--etc.) +
