iPhone 7 Plus Home button stops working After installing new parts!

Has anyone had an issues with the Home Button . I Have been doing repairs for a company fo 10 years plus lately and never had an issues like this. I did two iphone this morning . 1 was a charging port replacement. So I removed the screen and set it aside. Worked on getting the old charge port out and installing the new one. Once I got the new one installed. I hooked up the screen . It worked great . As soon as I closed it up I realized the home button had stopped working. I was no where near the home button, so I wasn’t sure what would cause it to stop working. I have never had this issues . Now the iPhone 7 Plus was updated to the newest 12.2 update of ios. I am not sure if Apple is being difficult again and did something in this update that when a third party is in it it stoped working. I even tried a new screen thinking maye the Flex cable the home button plugs into was the issue and still there was no home button functionality . I had to give customer the repair for Free and recomend they take the phone to Apple and get the home button reprogrammed.

2nd iPhone 7 Plus was the same fmaily. I opened it and removed the screen once it was removed I cleaned out the back part of the ear piece because he had issues hearing due to working construction. His phone also was on IOS 12.2 After I Did this and I was no where near the home button. I hooked the phone back up and once again no home button worked.

I have down a bunch of iPhone 7 PLus’s this week and not once have I had this issue until today. Anyone know if apple release something in the new update for third part repairs that it bricks the home button. I know they have done this type of things before. I have no idea if they did this again. Looking for help. I would hate to stop doing repairs on the iPhone 7 Plus if this is going to happen everytime, but I don’t want this to happen to my awesome customers who always come here because I am the best Tech around here and we have the best record on repairs compared to the few Shady places near by. I have been fixing devices for over 10 years now and I am stumped why two in a row did the same thing. Makes me wonder if Apple is behind this! Help

Ive been repairing all day, probably about 25 iPhone 7 screens and not had a problem so doubt its apple, they usually nurf things like aftermarket displays but that was ages ago for the 7 and 8.

Hi, Apple has been known in the past to make the home button stop working when replacing something in or attached to your device. They do this so you have to have them replace it, and then they can charge a high amount. It seems as if Apple is doing this again. You might try and buy a new home button and try that.

There hasn't been a recent update which stops the button from working after replacing a charging flex… also as u didn't do an update after the repair I'm pretty sure it's not due to apple. u sure u didn't mix up the 2 screens or damage the screen flex when removing the screens?
