Hi @techkid68730 ,

Right click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager,

Select Processes tab and then select "disk" tab and check what process or program is utilizing the HDD the most - should be at the top of the column.

Follow up what it does and go from there

First thing make sure Windows 10 is upgraded to v1809. MS has improved Windows. I have rarely said this over the years! But seriously, I have seen a marked improvement, especially over the past year. Even machines 7 to 10 years respond in a much snappier way than with earlier versions of W10, and W7 and W8 as well.

I never thought I would live long enough to say that with confidence!

Blocking Windows telemetry also helps.

On the home page of Task Manager, expand the view, by clicking the “Show all Processes” button, then click on “Disk Usage” to sort the processes to see which one is demanding the most.

Also, how much RAM is in the system? If the Windows type is 64bit, and you have less than 3-4GB RAM, it could be swapping out to Virtual Memory, which is stored on the hard drive. This could explain the sluggishness of the Optiplex and the “100%" Disk Usage” issue.

Good luck!
