Is my headphone Jack in need of replacement?

I use my EVO 4g as an MP3 player in my car. I plugged the MP3 jack into the headphone jack yesterday and the music said it was playing but I heard no sound coming thru my speakers.

Yes, it was plugged in all the way in the phone AND into the stereo. Is this something that I should troubleshoot or simply have replaced?

Samantha, have you tried headphone as well? Just to make sure that it is not the cable.

I have used my EVO with my headphones while working out and they work perfectly fine. The problem only occurs when I use the MP3 jack in my car.

I have recently bought a new MP3 jack for my stereo so I can play my music from my phone. I have checked everything out that you mentioned above and it still does the same thing. I'm wondering if this occurs because SMS messages are coming through, interrupting the media player when I am using it?

I will keep trying to figure this out, as I would loathe to replace another MP3 jack or have to replace the headphone jack on my EVO...luckily, I work for a company that does these repairs and more! Thanks oldturkey03!!!

Yep, that would explain while it gets interrupted. Any way you can turn of your message notification when you are listening to your music? May be something like airplane mode would work. Like I said, I think your EVO is okay....:-) Good Luck:-).

I think there is a way to temporary disable them, but I am lazy, and like to know if I am getting a text...you never know who needs you! Thanks!!

It is my opinion that if your headphones work in the same jack, but it does not work when you plug it into the audio in of your vehicle, that your jack is okay. Check the cable to your vehicle as well as the settings on, I assume, your car stereo. Does not sound like a phone issue to me. You might want to try another device on your stereo to make sure that it is working. Good Luck.
