Faulty Ifixit Battery stuck in MacBook air mid 13! Help!

Hi,

it is my second ifixit job and it is not going well so far… I bought a battery on the IFIX EU website. I did not force its entry. Then apple diagnostics said it was not working properly and customer service sent me a new one. Now, on opening the lid, I realized the plastic pull tab was not holding anything anymore. I can not possibly remove the battery by pulling it towards me, as it will just show the cables more. I am completely lost.

What do you think I could do?

Thanks for your help.

Yes the pull tab can pull off the cable harness! Not to fear, this is not a big problem!

You’ll need to wedge between the walls of the base connector and the cable connector (blue line) with a straight bladed screw driver from both sides slowly pulling the connector out.

Hi Dan, thanks so much!! I did it and it worked!!! I switched the battery with the replacement. Strange thing is that Apple diagnostics still detects a problem with it, though nothing appears wrong with coconut battery. I am calibrating right now. Is Apple diagnostics reliable do you think? Should I get a second replacement from Ifixit?

Thanks for your reply!

Cheers!

Lets do this after you've charged the new battery lets see how it looks after using it for an hour or so. Take a snapshot of the main window of CoconutBattery and paste it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

Dan, you're awesome! Thanks for taking the time :-) I have calibrated my MBA, scores and status are good with coconutB (new pic above). However, there is still this pesky Apple Diagnostics that says that battery must be checked (code: PPT004). And it seems the battery is running quite fast (see the pics above, after 1h30 of netflix + programs on background + brightness on high).

What do you think I should do? Thanks and happy Monday!

The IFIXIT battery is 3rd party so the diagnostics will point that out. This is to be expected.

Thanks Dan! So you think that 20% of battery life is ok given what I have done in 1h30?
