Could be many things, can be caused by:

  • Bad front camera assembly, perhaps cable got torn after drop, if unplugging cable lets the phone boot that is the case
  • Bad Tristar / charging chip, can happen can be confirmed if apple logo does not appear with charger plugged in and battery unplugged. Will require someone with micro-soldering experience to replace chip on board.
  • Corrupt Firmware / Software restore will fix this
  • Bad CPU / NAND / Baseband = Unfixable pretty much.

Has the screen been replaced? This could be something like ''Long Screw Damage''

Try to put it in recovery mode and update it, it might give you an error code that gives you some clue.

Also, what is the history? what’s happened for the device to be in the condition it is in?
