Vibrate function reversed since self repair job.

Hi there,

I replaced the back cover of my iPhone because the buttons were dying. The replacement was the full back housing with all the buttons and flex cable attached, so I know it is assembled correctly.

Upon replacing the housing with the new parts, and using the phone again, my phone vibrates when I switch off vibrate, and doesn't vibrate when I switch vibrate on.

The vibrate function works fine, and as expected, except for this one weird thing.

To clarify:

The only problem is that upon switching silent off, the phone vibrates, instead of vise versa.

'Silent Vibrate' is on and 'ringer vibrate' is on in the settings.

Thanks for your answers guys. The iPhone is jailbroken on 4.3.3, and I doubt the outer switch is upside down, given I bought the rear assembly - including switches - pre assembled (OEM).

A backwards switch doesn't make sense to me. The phone still shows the 'bell (ringer)' or the 'bell with the cross through it(silent)', just as expected, only it vibrates upon switching to the wrong one..

maybe you have the outer switch upside down? anyway I'd leave it... it's a pain in the backside to fix, extremely fiddly and not time effective. I'd colour in the red dot and draw a white dot on the other side then all will be right!

If your iPhone 3GS is Jailbroken on 4.3.2 this is a known inconvenience, since the iPhone works perfect. If this is true, you can upgrade to Firmware 4.3.3 Jailbreak that if you like and the problem is fixed.
