What errors do you get? has anything happened to the ipod or did this problem just start? Have you been able to sync it before?

hayley stokes, have you tried a restore on your ipod yet. that is what I would start out with. I would think that due to the nature of it changing errors, the issue at hand may be your HDD. Possibility of bad sectors etc comes to mind. Anyhow, I'd check the ipod first, make sure that you run the diagnostics as well since it will tell you lots about your ipod here is how to do that http://www.mydigitallife.info/turn-on-ip... good luck and let us know how it is going.

HP = Headphone. That just tells you if the headphones are detected 1=yes 0=no So that really should not be your problem. Try again with the Headphone and see what happens. What OS is your computer?

i tried it with the headphones but it still gets stuck it wont let me continue. im using windows 7, als all my music is stored on an exernal h/d coul that be a prblem??

That is a possibility. But your iPod diagnostic should not get stuck on the HP issue since it should give you a HP=1 and proceed. Anyhow, just to rule out that the syncing is not caused by your external HDD you could try to copy those files to on an internal drive and have itunes add that folder and see if it syncs from there. Just a try and make sure that you backup just in case....:-)
