Could be several things. If possible hook up an external monitor and see if you have a good picture. If you do its most likely the cable to the LCD or the LCD itself. If you don't its most likely the video card or the logic board. Let us know what you find out and we can do a better job of helping you. Ralph

Thanks for the help! Yes, I did try an external modem, and it worked great no lines and the picture was satisfactory for me.

Thus I think it could be the LCD, but the cable to the LCD could be the cause? Is it possible to replace the cable and save the money for a new LCD?

Thanks in advance,

Duane

Yes you should be able to replace the cable and that would be a less expensive part. I would try that before replacing the LCD. Ralph

Sorry to be a bother, but you've been a great source for fixing my iMac. Three questions: Where do you order a cable for my LCD, and does the cable come with some directions. Last but very important, price range for a cable.

Thanks in advance,

Duane in Hillman

You need the repair guide and I've included the URL.Read the section on the display. If iFixit doesn't have the part you could try ebay> Ralph
