Over time Apple has altered the display assembly a few times so your only choice for your Mid 2014 MacBook Pro 13" Retina A1502: Display assembly Apple P/N 661-8153

The older screens won’t work and thats the same for the Early 2015 as well.

Its a bit more than that... The display ID needs to be present in the EFI for it to correctly work at boot up.

@danj

Where in the EFI rom is the DisplayID?

@gerikerschi - The DisplayID is held in the T-CON board within the display assembly. It is not changeable. The system reads this ID. Altering the hardware elements in the EFI is also not possible as its CRC'd and encrypted.

There are differences between the 2012/early 2013 and the late 2013/2014. This gets into the signals sent over the wires between eDP and iDP standards (DisplayPort Standards)

I have written the DisplayProductID of the 2015 display into the display of the 2014 display -> no change

I have inserted all the Edid data of a 2015 model into the 2014 display -> no change

I have inserted the eprom of the 2015 display into the 2014 display -> no change

What do I have to change in the display eprom to make the 2014 display work on the 2015 display Macbook?

I have a 2015 display type LSN133DL03-A01 and it works with 2014 and 2015 Macbook model.

by

@gerikerschi - As I stated above you can't do this as the displays wiring is different. I'm sorry you didn't fully explain your goal as I would have made it clear this is not possible. A dogs ear only works on a dog and likewise a horses ear only works on a horse!

by

@danj - The display connector and the pinout from 2014 and 2015 ist the same. So the display works in OS very well. So what do you mean with different wiring?

Are we talking about the same displays? A1502 2013/2014 and A1502 2015.

by

@gerikerschi - Nope they are not the same! These screens are based on two different standards iDP & eDP review the sections here Wikipedia - DisplayPort standards
