Is a card necessary to record a T.V. programme from a set top box

I need to record T.V programmes from the set top box is it necessary that I should buy a card if so which card,after recording I need to store it which will be the best option since DVD is outdated. I need to view it in my T.V later on.Kindly guide me Narayanan Lakshman from India.Thanks

The newer MacBook Pro’s use USB-C as such you’ll need a capture device that you can hook up to it like ExtremeCap UVC

FYI: I still buy DVD’s! Some stuff I just prefer to own then to be subject to which device I can watch something on. Even if you migrate your stuff over to a media server you still need to store it and over time it will degrade. Optical has a longer shelf life than magnetic storage and is still cheaper!
