Connector 1 broken, new LCD or entire display?

I replaced the battery in my 3GS., but I think I damaged connector 1 in the process. The phone makes a noise when I plug it in and I can hear new message indicator but the screen is completely black. Can i just get a new LCD? or do I need to get a whole new front?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Try Reset, hold together Home and Power buttons for about 15 seconds until iPhone turns on. See if that helps. If not, make sure 3GS is OFF before and during all repairs. Try to carefully reseat Flex Cable #1 again. If you decide, then yes, you can just replace the LCD display. Also be sure to buy LCD display for 3GS.
