I get sound from the dock, but not from headphone jack?

I am able to get sound from my iPod when it is docked, but my headphone jack does not work. I've tried the iPod with multiple headphones.

I bought the iPod new and used it moderately for about a year before this happened. I recently dug it up and tried it again. Do I need to replace the headphone jack?

Craig Hensley, I definitely would replace the jack. It is a straight forward procedure. Here is the guide The other thing you can try is to plug - unplug your headphones a couple of times and see if the contacts inside the jack are stuck, also try and clean it out. I usually use just a few puffs of air-in-a-can electronics cleaner. Hold the ipod upside down while you do that. Good Luck.
