My phone's screen turned black and is not responsive.

I was using my phone normally yesterday (March 1st 2019) until the screen on my iPhone 6 turned slowly black and the phone became unresponsive. The battery is fine since the phone can connect to a computer and emit a signal but iTunes does not recognize the device. The silent switch does not vibrate when switched. I have tried to hard reset the device but nothing is working. What could have gone wrong? and how do I fix it?

Assuming this happened out of the blue, and not following a repair attempt, then I believe it is simply a defective screen. You can replace it yourself by following this guide.
