Any idea why my MBP screen and keyboard not working?

When I open and turn on my MBP it makes the boot up sound and I can hear the fan running. The screen boots up in like a turquoise color and stays like that. Keyboard doesn’t light up. I left it running like that for an hour and nothing changes. The bottom of the laptop gets really hot.

When I hold the power button to shut it back down the laptop shuts off. When I close the lid, reopen it and turn the laptop back on the screen stays black. The laptop is on but the screen and keyboard doesn’t light up.

I also tried shining a light through the apple logo to see if the screen is on but just dim but it’s not.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I was just using it a couple of days ago and everything was fine. The laptop was never dropped and no liquids were ever spilled on it. The laptop still looks brand new.

Lets try this, Restart your system and press the ‘‘‘T’’’ key to enter into Target Disk Mode. The screen should be showing a FireWire & Thunderbolt icons. Is this working?

Reference: Mac startup key combinations

I restarted the system then pressed “T” and nothing happened. Tried it a few more times and still nothing. The external monitor still says no signal.

I also noticed that the white light on the front of the laptop is dim when the lid is opened then gets bright and stays bright when the lid is closed. Very strange.

Not good ;-{

You have a major logic board failure. The T test would have clued us in to seeing if the dedicated GPU had failed or if something more. If you saw the icons then the GPU had failed at this point you have something much deeper.

You'll need to either get your system to someone with deeper skills to debug your logic board and hopefully fix it.

Otherwise its time for a new logic board. Given the 2011 models have a high tendency of GPU failures you might want to look at getting a 2012 logic board which will work in your system.

Have you tried a PRAM & SMC resets?

It seems like Main Logic Board issue. The main graphics chip on the MLB for that year is notorious for failing. :(

Yes I’ve tried this multiple times and nothing. I can’t tell if the keyboard is even functioning. There’s no backlight on and when I press the caps lock button, the little green light on the button doesn’t turn on either.
