Screen not working after replacment!

Hi,

I bought a used (badly damaged) iPhone 7 and just replaced the screen and front camera. If I turn the phone on, you can see the backlight working, but not the LCD itself. I don't really know what to do.

Is my replacement screen broken or is the motherboard damaged?

You will need to determine if the replacement screen you ordered is functional or not. That is one of the challenges with DIY repairs…you don’t always know if the replacement parts are good or not. If you ordered from a reputable supplier, like iFixit, then the odds are good that it works properly. If you bought an inexpensive screen on eBay or Amazon, then the opposite is true.

But first, start by checking your work to insure it is installed properly and that the flexes and connectors are not damaged. Even the slightest tear or damage can cause failure.

If the original screen still “worked”, that is showing an image, then try connecting it to the phone to see if the problem persists.

In the end, you may have logic board damage as the phone did sustain heavy damage.

Thx for the tipp

I bought it from I fix it. I know they check their parts, but I guess there could always be a bad one.

I got the phone into recovery/factory reset mode. (you can navigate with the "read function/text to speech") so the logic board is "fine". It still could be at the connection between the parts.

you could also try connecting it to iTunes, if its in DFU mode it will require a restore.
