MBP 15" 2.66 Ghz Mid 2009 losing time after battery drains

The said MBP resets its system time after a shutdown when the battery is drained. I know some macs have a PRAM battery. Does this MBP (MacbookPro 5,3) have a PRAM battery too? Or can this be fixed by replacing the regular battery (which is not in its best shape, almost 50% of the original charge)?

Hi Marco,

Did you discover if this model of macbook pro has a PRAM Battery and if so, where exactly it might be located.

Many thanks,

Darren

Sounds like it's time for a new battery and PRAM battery.

Hey Marco,

Yes it should do, It wouldn't be a part of the actually battery as if your actual battery runs out, it wouldn't keep the time anyway.

best thing you can do is safely remove the bottom case and it should be fairly obvious thing to spot.

Enjoy and good luck!
