App Store crashing with "JetEngineMac PlugIn" error.

Block Image

I recently upgraded my stock Macbook Pro’s RAM and HDD from 4 GB of RAM to 16 GB and from a 500 GB 5400 rpm HDD to a 1 TB Samsung EVO SSD.

When attempting to open the App Store, it does not open and instead an error stating “App Store quit unexpectedly while using the JetEngineMac plug-in.” I have ran the hardware test and no errors arise. Installation of MojaveOS went smoothly without errors. Installation only took ~30 minutes.

Did you upgrade the HD SATA cable to the newer version?

FYI: Your Hard Drive Cable Is A Ticking Time Bomb

I've been pushing this for quite a few years! You also need to not crease the cable as the fragile foil wires of the ribbon cable can be easily damaged. You want smooth arcs around the corners.

That broke on me back in 2014 and replaced it.

have you ever upgraded the hard drive

Prior to this moment? No.

At this point its the first thing I would do. Here’s the needed part MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable and here’s the guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Hard Drive Cable Replacement

Don’t forget to place the electricians tape on the uppercase where the cable crosses over and don’t fold the cable! Arc it across the corners.

I'm pretty sure I've ruled out the cable as it has the same issue when connecting it through externally/USB port.

Are you really sure you booted up on your external drive?

You need to access the Startup Manager holding the Option (⌥) during boot to select the correct drive.

Reference: Mac startup key combinations

Yes, I'm sure.

Reinstallation of MojaveOS solved the issue.
