Keeps telling me to clear the paper jam yet there is no paper jammed

My printer has the following message in the screen “open the print-carriage access door, clear the jam, and then touch OK to continue. Yet I have followed all the instructions, there is no paper jammed in the printer, and it will not clear the message or allow me to continue. PLEASE HELP

Printers are NOTORIOUS for being sneaky b****es when it comes to paper jams. You most likely had a paper jam in there and when the paper was removed a tiny bit got torn off and remains in the printer, or else the sensor is now really dirty. Time to get inside it and have a good look around; don't forget to look under heat shields and pinch rollers.

Pro tip: Get a small UV flashlight, turn the lights off in the room, and look inside the printer with the flashlight. Paper dust and torn pieces will glow vividly, making them easier to spot.
