Not turning on and volume buttons

How do I fix my power button and volume buttons. Neither one of them will work. It won’t turn on unless it’s plugged in. Can b played on after it’s unplugged but if it turns off u have to plug it back in to turn it back on

Hi @mad1066 ,

If the tablet works OK when it is plugged in i.e. the Power and Volume buttons work OK, it sounds as though there may be that the battery is failing and not holding its’ charge. Even rechargeable batteries have a life span.

Try replacing the battery and see if this resolves the problem.

Replacement batteries are available online. Just search for Kindle Fire HD 2012 1st Gen battery to get results for suppliers of the part. Ensure that you order the correct part. Check the model number of your tablet (found on the back of the tablet or in the Settings area) to verify that the battery is for your model Kindle.
