Rotation lock is a software function in OS4

Double-click the home button and a menu will appear along the bottom of the screen. Slide the menu that appears from left to right. The far LEFT button will enable/disable auto rotate. The icon has a circular arrow going clockwise in it. If locked it will have a padlock there as well

If running OS3 the button above the volume switch will toggle the auto rotate function.

Sedereck, make sure that the screen lock "switch" is definitely not on Also remember that some apps disable rotation - does it work on the home screen? If not, then try a restart (switch off and hold the home and start buttons until it reboots)I would also double check the "few apps" that you added. I would think that since the problem started when you installed them, your apps are giving you trouble. Uninstall those and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise follow the advise given by Richdave. Good Luck

Look above the volume controls on the right side of the iPad. There is a small slider switch, that can be moved up or down.

In the up position it should auto rotate, in the down position it should not. There should be a visual indicator on screen when you change the position

Mine had the same issue. Sent it back for repair. After 2 weeks, it came back "repaired" [same device per the Serial #] but it still does not auto-rotate. Called tech back and now I'm in the process of an Advanced Exchange. They will send me a new 32 GB TP, and I will return this one. They have my credit card hostage for $365 US dollars until they receive the original back.

If there is a fix let me know, although in my case it is too late.
