Why isn't music coming from the phone speaker?

the top left side button is on (not showing the red dot). if i adjust the volume from the side, the speaker icon shows up plus the sound waves in front of the speaker icon but no squares underneath. i can hear all the sounds/music if headphones are plugged in. if i get a text message. the phone only vibrate. if someone calls the ringtone will work. i just cant hear the music on the ipod part of the iphone without the headphones.

try cleaning your headphone port... you often get a build up of pocket lint/dirt etc which tricks your phone into thinking it's always on headphone mode. use a toothpick with a bit of cotton wool on it to clean. if that doesn't work then you may have to replace the headphone jack itself. the link and guide for that is to the right under the photo of the phone

Also try to inset and reinsert your headphone a few times.Sometimes the outer contacts get stuck and you can free them by trying that. Good Luck
