It sounds (pun intended) like the operating system continues to think that there’s something plugged into the 3.5mm jack, so it turns off the speakers of your MacBook Pro. The cheap solution is to try to get the plug out of the port. If you do this, definitely deplete the battery/unplug it. Also, don’t keep it charger plugged in. I’d also leave the laptop sitting there for some time to make sure that all power is depleted from the system.

The expensive/safe solution, unfortunately, is to buy a new logic board, depending on your model.

2.5 GHz —> MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.5 GHz Logic Board

2.9 GHz —> MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.9 GHz Logic Board

Product

MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.5 GHz Logic Board

$249.99

MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.9 GHz Logic Board Image

Product

MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.9 GHz Logic Board

$299.99
