Flexgate on MacBook Air too?

Upon checking the teardown videos, it appears the MacBook Air 2018 features the same glorious ribbon configuration as the MacBook Pro 2016 Onwards. Is it likely that MacBook Air 2018 onwards will develop screen & backlight issues ?

There is no point guessing, just wait and see if it happens.

The 12 inch MacBook has the same flat cable, but doesn’t seem to fail as often. There might be something wrong with the cables of Touch Bar models itself instead of the design idea.

The Touch Bar model came with a cable reel mechanism, maybe that put some extra strain on the cables. MacBook Air and 12 inch MacBook did not have that.

It might be a very good investment buying the extended 2 year Apple Care Warranty on this one just in case. You can still buy it anytime while the original warranty is in effect.
