3 beep ram issue damaged part

I’ve been having the 3 beep ram problem and upon further inspection have noticed a damaged component? Would this effect it?

located on right side near the screwhole and looks green when opened almost looked like it HD toothpaste on it

That clearly looks like oxide from a past liquid damage. Unfortunately liquid damage can easily spread to a number of components and circuits and often times is a nightmare even for a skilled technician. You may try sitting the board in >90 % isopropyl alcohol for a while and try to brush away oxide, but I wouldn’t be surprised there would be some dirt even under chips where you can’t reach without ultrasonic. After cleaning a thorough circuits testing would be needed.

That’s strange because before it stopped it was not exposed to any sorts of water? Is it 100% that? And is the only fix to replace logic board?

Just like mold on bread it can take a bit of time for the damage to happen. Its not the H2O thats the issue its what was in the water: salt, sugars, acids or caustics. Over time they will cause damage.

@lucawess The board may be repaired too since it doesn't look so bad. It's still a valuable board and it would be worth a try.
