iPhone restarts when on locked screen.

Good day!

My wife’s iOS 10.3.3 16gb White iPhone 6 started doing random restarts like every 2-5 minutes when the phone is locked. It never restarts when it’s not locked. I did some testing, first i connected new battery it did not help, then i’ve installed whole screen from another working iPhone 6, still does random reboots. I even checked leaving any specific application in background before doing lock, does not seem to be related to any of apps.

We also did “full erase”, which did not help.

I’ve checked analytics there are some “panic-full” messages referencing to some “SEP ROM boot” and “timeout waiting for SEP reply to SLEEP control message”. Could not find any information regarding it on the web.

Hoping for your help :)

Here are the analytics:

EDIT: I found that phone may have been damaged by a child in the left bottom corner.

Found out that slightly unbending it from down under caused restarts appear less frequently. But what hardware malfunction may this be?

So after many different attempts finally i’ve decided to do hard reset & update it to iOS 12.

Nothing has changed, still reboots when locked.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

When you mean by full erase did you end up updating it to iOS 12.1.2?

Nope, never done it, cause afaik there will be no way back to iOS 10. I think its called "hard reset"

That is right, when you update the phone you can't go back to the older version of iOS.

I recommend updating it though as you already tried another screen and battery.

Backup the phone before hand if needed in case the update fails as if it fails you would need to restore the phone via iTunes which factory resets the phone.

I still think its hardware related, going to try reattaching everything inside left bottom corner.

Even with all the stuff below motherboard deattached it still reboots randomly and only while its locked. Even with different screen (w/o camera nor touch id) + battery attached. Still searching what may be triggered during these "SEP ROM Boot" & “timeout waiting for SEP reply to SLEEP control message” panics.

I've read somewhere it could be a memory crash, and someone has fixed it by putting phone in a food bag and in the fridge for a night. Thats what I tried. Nothing got fixed, still same two panic messages & random reboots on locked screen.

To conclude:

I’ve sent this phone to professional repairs. They found some faulty chip. Replacement cost would’ve been 3/4 of iPhone itself. Trashed it.

Thanks for assistance, everyone.
