Replacing fan: new thermal paste?

I have bought a new fan and heatsink for iFixit for my original MacBook Air. When I lifted the heatsink, part of the thermal paste stayed on it and part stayed on the chips themselves. The instructions do not say anything about thermal paste. Do I need to buy new paste?

Yes - Absolutely.. Clean off the old and apply new.
