Will Apple Watch Series 1 display install properly in Series 2?

My wife just cracked the screen of her Series 2 Apple Watch, so I just ordered her a new Series 4. I don’t have an Apple Watch myself, so I figured that maybe I’d just fix her old one for myself to play around with. The problem is, the cost of the Series 2 display/digitizer is way too high to make it worth repairing. The Series 1 display is much less expensive, so for a situation like mine where I don’t really care about it being the best possible display, will Series 1 install properly in the Series 2?

Thanks in advance.

The connectors are different, so unfortunately it wont work. As a rule of thumb, Apple almost never makes screens backwards compatible with any of there hardware. The only device I know that has interchangeable screens is the iPhone 5s and SE.

I was afraid of that! Thanks for the quick response. I guess this watch is now just a tiny paper weight. Haha.

No problem and hopefully the parts cost will drop soon enough for it to be a worthwhile repair.
