Replaced battery and now only shows Apple logo

I just replaced the battery on my iPhone 3G.

When I plug it into the wall charger it shows the apple logo then turns off. If I hold the on button it does the same. If I hold on and home for a while it shows connect to iTunes. Upon unplugging from the wall to connect to the computer it turns off.

It will not do anything if not connected to the wall. Even if connected to the computer.

Dodgy battery?

Here's what you do. Connect it to the computer. Turn it on, and press the Home button while pressing the power button. Then, let go of the home button. It should say Connect to iTunes. Then, open up iTunes and select Restore. It will delete everything, so make sure you have everything updated on your computer. Let it download and install the software. Then try it out.
