Has anything happened to the phone recently, such as a drop, repair attempt or water damage? Battery drain can be caused by a defective battery, broken charge circuit or defective peripheral (screen, camera, sensor, flex etc.) . Depending on the history of the device, it could be anyone of those causes.

If you have tried a known-good battery, then try a known good screen to see if that helps. If not, progressively remove peripherals until the problem is identified. Eventually, you may have only the logic board left which would point to a logic board issue.

I was told a faulty IC tristar can cause this issue, are one of the symptoms of a tristar to cause drainage?

by

Yes, that is one of the main symptoms. Another symptom could be phone dying before low battery even with a new battery.

Thanks guys! Turns out its the tristar IC.
