After you drive it for 20+ miles it acts like it doesnt down shift when you stop. When you go to take off it dies, if you can get it rolling it will go but acts like a manual taking off in a higher gear. Once up to speed it goes fine. Is there a sensor or module that controls this?

First off how long has it been since the transmission filter was replaced? Another possibility is the modulator in the transmission. Oldturkey has an excellent suggestion in getting Autozone to hook your car up to a analyzer. Link provided about the filter. Good luck.

kenramsey3 we could try and find you an answer with a bit more information. What engine what exact year, did anything else happen to it? have you tried an automotive parts store. like autozone, to get it hooked up to an analyzer? those error codes work great...;-)
