washer spin needs a push to start working
my Kenmore washer will spin during rinse and spin cycle but I have to give it a small push, I replaced the rubber, is the motor going bad?
Is this a good question?

Try running the washer in a spin cycle with the belt removed. If the motor does not run with the belt removed, the problem is likely a defective motor.

Need a complete model number to get a clue what you have, but the general idea is if the washer will agitate, the motor and belt or coupling is probably ok. With the older generation of washers, if it drains the motor is turning. The newer models have an electric drain pump, so the drain and spin functions are handled by different devices.
