My Gateway M-6307 CD/Dvd drive is broken, How do I fix it?

I had my dvd drive open on my Gateway M-6307 laptop and i put it down. The drive hit something an got busted up.It appears to play dvds still but it crashed my computer twice. Luckily after a bit of fiddling with my power button and battery. It booted up fine. Currently I am using electrical tape to keep the drive closed. I was wondering how I could repair or replace this. The button to eject no longer works the drive just comes out when i remove the tape. I am afraid to take the tape without information on repair for the fear that my laptop will crash for a third time and will not turn back on.

Max Zigmund, this is a relative easy fix. You will have to replace your drive. The Service Manual is on my fileserver and feel free to download it. Page 10-13 are the ones you need to look at. Straight forward and not a bad thing. Only problem will be to find a replacement drive. Do a google search or check on ebay, I did find a few for under $50, so not a bad price either. Hope this helps and good luck to you.
