Changed 3gs rear panel, no service, no sim

I replaced my 3gs rear panel yesterday, seemed to go great with the help of the very informative guide here.

Im now getting no sim displayed.

Everything working fine apart from phone. Can anyone pinpoint the problem and solution.

My guess is that the Logic Board is not seated correctly at top of iPhone.

No SIM means that there is no SIM in the Tray, or that no SIM is detected in the Tray, or that the SIM Tray is not pushed in all the way. No Service means that a SIM is in the Tray is being read, but it cannot get Cell Service for whatever reason, usually very poor reception, ie poor signal from carrier. But since you are have SIM Tray problems it might not be getting reception due to problems in the SIM Bay (SIM area). My guess is that the Logic Board is not seated correctly at the top of the iPhone so that the SIM Tray is not ending up exactly centered over the SIM Bay 6 Gold Reading Pins (SIM Junctor).

All sorted, this youtube video was right on the mark. I had to place a little bit of plastic so the sim tray made contact with the bar and pushed it down.

I wonder if its because the logic board is not in its seated position. I will probably take it apart and reseat it but its ok for the time being.

I lost one of the screws of the vibrator, not a big deal i know but if i have to reseat the logic board I may aswell get the screw, anyone know where to get iphone screws, im looking a 1.9mm

Thats what I though as the rear panel is not a genuine case, I used a bit of hard plastic similar to the plastic on the sim card tray, I cut a very small length to wedge in. I hope it is ok and doesnt fall out but I cant see it being detrimental to the internals.

All in all, I was cautious about doing this job as at the start of the job it said it would be difficult, it really wasnt.

Going to do the front assembly next, there are two guides, front panel and front panel assembly, whats the difference.

Your fix could indicate that your SIM Tray if new, may not be precisely the correct length. Or the new Rear Case, if not Original Apple, may not be exactly to specifications. Great you got it working.
